With virtually each passing day of the new administration, our nation has seen major shifts in federal governance, and environmental regulation is certainly facing rapid change. Executive Director Stan Meiburg, who capped his 39-year career with the EPA as Acting Deputy Administrator under President Obama, continues to be in high demand as journalists seek clarity into the implications of the Trump Administration’s first several weeks. Meiburg has spoken with dozens of reporters since the beginning of 2025, including The New York Times, Politico, Bloomberg, The Hill, ABC News, The Winston-Salem Journal, and more.

On January 9, Meiburg’s explainer on the public health role of the EPA appeared in The Conversation. And on January 15, he was a featured guest on NPR’s 1A, where he offered an inside look at the EPA’ daily operations for the program’s Dot Gov series. That same day, Meiburg even made an appearance in a Rolling Stone magazine article profiling the role of the Washington National Cathedral in the political turmoil at our nation’s capital.

Meiburg’s decades-long experience within the EPA across multiple administrations and political pendulum swings provides unique insight into how workers within the agency itself navigate these changes. And his understanding of the actual impact of the EPA’s work provides a stark look at the perils we face should we lose those environmental protections. Below are some of the articles quoting Meiburg this year, with more expected in the coming weeks.
