Dr. Katharine Hayhoe on the power of climate conversations
Rave reviews have been rolling in following Dr. Katharine Hayhoe’s incredible keynote remarks, which she delivered at the Porter Byrum Welcome Center on Tuesday, April 21. The event, co-hosted by the Sabin Center and Wake’s Environment and Sustainability Studies Program, welcomed over 200 guests including citizens, faculty, staff, and students to campus for an engaging and uplifting evening.

Dr. Hayhoe, widely recognized as one of the most renowned climate communicators of our time, currently serves as The Nature Conservancy’s Chief Scientist as well as faculty at Texas Tech University. Her TED talk, “The most important thing you can do to fight climate change: talk about it,” has racked up over four million views to date.

Her keynote remarks, delivered in an engaging format including audience votes and questioning, were a treat for all who were able to attend. She answered the question she most often hears — “What can I do about climate change” — with a direct and accessible call to action:
Do something. Anything. Then talk about it.”
