Scott Schang Named Interim Executive Director
Schang Steps in as Meiburg Retires

The Sabin Center welcomes Board Member Scott Schang as Interim Executive Director. Schang, a Professor of Practice and Director of the Environmental Law and Policy Clinic at Wake’s School of Law, brings decades of nonprofit, corporate, and academic experience, including leadership roles at the Environmental Law Institute. Schang also leads the Heirs’ Property Project, a collaborative effort supporting land rights and environmental justice in underserved communities.
As a Board Member and friend of the Center, Schang has long contributed his even keel and pragmatic wisdom. We are delighted to have his leadership, alongside Founding Director Miles Silman, as we move forward.
Schang joins us as Stan Meiburg heads into a well-earned retirement. Meiburg returned to his alma mater (’75) as Director of Wake’s Graduate Studies in Sustainability Program in 2017 and took the helm as the Sabin Center’s Executive Director in 2022. He has been instrumental in leading the Center through a transition from the previous Center for Energy, Environment, and Sustainability, including establishing a new home on the Reynolda campus, hosting our inaugural three day conference in October 2024, and recruiting and developing our team. We wish Stan the very best, and expect he’ll continue contribute his expertise, insights, and enthusiasm to the Center as he enters this new chapter.
