Katharine Hayhoe Event on 4/21
Renowned Climate Communicator to Deliver Keynote Remarks
On April 21, the Environment and Sustainability Studies Program and the Sabin Center will host renowned climate communicator Dr. Katharine Hayhoe, Chief Scientist at The Nature Conservancy. The title of her address is inspired by Physicist and former U.S. Science Advisor John Holdren, who once said: “We basically have three choices: mitigation, adaptation, and suffering.” Dr. Hayhoe will translate the implications of those choices from a global scale to what it means for communities in our region, from drought to energy demand.

Dr. Hayhoe’s TED talk, “The Most Important Thing You Can Do About Climate Change is Talk About It,” has been viewed over 5 million times, and she has been named to Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People, Foreign Policy’s 100 Leading Thinkers, and Fortune’s World’s Greatest Leaders.
We hope you will join us in welcoming this remarkable speaker to campus on Tuesday, April 21 at the Porter Byrum Welcome Center. Guests are invited to arrive early for a public reception at 6pm, with the keynote address beginning at 7pm.
The event is free and open to the public, though registration is required.
